AOC Community Media is again offering free basic-level workshops to its members in the areas of editing, studio production, field production, audio production and podcast production. These workshops equip Acadiana residents with the basic production skills used to create multi-media content for AOCís two television channels (Cox Communications channels 15 and 16 and LUS Fiber channels 3 and 4).

These workshops are available on a first-come, first-served basis. AOCís affordable workshops range from pre-production to post-production topics and can be taken in any order.

Workshop prices range from free to $15 for AOC members and $15 to $30 for non-members. Annual memberships range from $25-$60 per person.

Orientation. At this orientation, discover the benefits of joining AOC, all that can be done at AOC, as well as how to successfully reserve use of AOCís resources.

Backpack Media Production. Learn how to write, produce, edit and share your media creations using one of AOC's new Backpack Kits. These iPad-based kits are an entire production house you can carry around in a backpack. Use it to create films, animations, podcasts, and more! This workshop certifies members to use AOC's Backpack Kit. This workshop certifies members to use AOCís Backpack Media Kits.

Basic Editing. This is a beginnersí workshop that introduces users to the editing program most used at AOC. Students will learn the main functions of Final Cut Pro X including trimming clips, adding text and audio, and exporting and submitting content for air. This workshop certifies members to use AOCís Post Lab editing computers.

Advanced Editing. Learn advanced editing techniques using Appleís Final Cut Pro X software. AOC strongly recommends taking AOCís Basic Editing workshop before attending this workshop. This workshop does not serve any certification purpose.

Simple Field Production. Learn how to record video and audio in the field. In this workshop, learn basic camera and audio recording operation and beginner techniques. This workshop certifies members to use the following AOC gear: Yellow Kit, Orange Kit, GoPro, Zoom H4N recorder.

Advanced Field Production. This workshop covers advanced field production techniques and equipment. Learn how to use AOCís best gear and how to adequately plan for a safe field shoot. This workshop certifies members to use AOCís Blue Kit, Arri Light Kit, Field Audio Kit and Wireless Mic Kit.
$15 members/$30 non-members
Saturday, April 8, 1-5 p.m.

Simple Studio Production. Learn the basic elements of studio production in AOCís most basic studio including managing audio, live switching, creating graphics and more. This workshop certifies members to use AOCís TV Studio.

Advanced Studio Production. Learn to use a full television studio including cameras, intercom systems, green-screen set, eight-channel audio board and advanced control room. Learn techniques for communicating as a crew and how to stream shows on AOCís website. This workshop certifies members to use AOCís largest studio, the Multi-Purpose Room.

Saturday, Feb. 18, 1-5 p.m.

Audio Production. In this workshop, learn the basics of recording audio using simple studio tools and a computer-recording interface. Explore two types of recording software, microphones, headphones and mixing. This workshop certifies members to use AOCís Audio Booth.

Thursday, May 11, 6-8 p.m.

Podcast Production. Learn how to produce an audio podcast from start to finish. Discover how to use audio recording software and equipment to produce an mp3 file, and then how to post that file online and publish to a podcast service. This workshop certifies members to use AOC's Internet Radio Station/Podcast Studio.

Animation Basics. This workshop is a basic primer on animation. Participants will learn about several animation forms and have an opportunity for hands-on learning using AOC's Post Lab computers and our new Animation Booth. This workshop certifies members to use AOC's Animation Booth.

Thursday, Feb. 23, 6-8 p.m.

All workshops, including free ones, require registration. For online registration, go to www.aocinc.org.
