Opened in 1982, AOC Community Media is Lafayette, Louisiana’s only noncommercial community media center, providing television channels on Cox Communications 15 & 16 as well as LUS Fiber 3 & 4, including 24 hour live streaming to the internet, a dedicated podcast network, and equipment and facilities available to all Lafayette residents.

Any person living, working, or attending school in Lafayette Parish has access to our television channels free of charge, and can become a member in order to utilize AOC’s equipment and facilities.

Anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Lafayette Parish can become a member of AOC. Use of facilities and equipment require membership. Membership is purchased on an annual basis (12 months from the date of payment).

The majority of AOC’s funding is generated through franchise and public, educational, and governmental (PEG) fees collected through cable subscribers of Cox Communications and LUS Fiber. AOC is also funded through the collection of membership fees ranging from $25 to $60 per member annually.
AOC Community Media also relies on funding from its gracious community sponsors, who donate to AOC’s general fund and scholarship fund for potential members who are unable to afford AOC memberships.

AOC Community Media is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization controlled by a Board of Directors consisting of community members. The executive director manages AOC under the oversight of the Board of Directors. The executive director is responsible for AOC’s daily operations and its staff.

Any resident, student, or person employed in Lafayette Parish, who is over the age of 17, has agreed to the AOC Producer Agreement and has submitted our online distribution agreement (found at aocinc.org/submit) can submit content for air on AOC’s two television stations.
Membership is not required to submit content for air on AOC Community Media’s television stations.
Cable space is allocated based on factors including, but not limited to, first-come / first-serve, available channel space, number of requests, frequency of submission, length of submissions, etc.

AOC Community Media uses an online reservation system called RueShare. When you become an AOC member you are issued a username and password for our reservation system. You can access Rueshare from our website at aocinc.org/reservations.

AOC accepts all non-commercial content for air. You may submit content through our website at aocinc.org/submit.
From the submit page, you must fill out the Program Distribution Form for the each program you want to submit. Then, use the Upload button to submit your content to AOC through DropBox. (Do not close the DropBox window until your file is fully uploaded.) You may submit more than one show at a time.

AOC Community Media often hosts live television and streaming programs from our Multi-Purpose Studio, TV Studio, and Podcast studio. You can request Live time and Studio time through the RueShare reservation system. If requesting Live air time, it’s also important to email William McFarlain, wmcfarlain@aocinc.org or 337-232-4434 (ext.222), in order to find out if the live time you would like to request is available for the date and time you would like to reserve it.

AOC Community Media will air all programming regardless of length.
Keep in mind that programs that fall into the following lengths are easiest to schedule and will get the most repeat air time; 15 seconds to 1 minute / 20 minutes to 30 minutes / 50 minutes to 1 hour / 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Even though the lengths listed are AOC’s preferred program lengths this will not keep your program from airing regardless of length. AOC will air a 45 second program just as many times as it will air a 3 hour program. AOC Community Media is a place for all community content, regardless of length or format.

AOC Community Media does record events and programs of value to the Acadiana community. These events are evaluated by AOC to see if we can accommodate your needs, AOC’s availability, AOC’s available equipment, and several other factors.
