Council Meetings Will be Held Tonight: Public Options on Participation
After a meeting with members of the Administration this morning, please be advised of the following for tonight’s Council Meetings:
All four (4) Council meetings tonight will be held (see attached meeting agendas);
Several items have been deferred;
Legal has advised that the public will be allowed to physically attend the meetings. The 5 minute rule will be in effect;
Rather than the main entrance, entrance for tonight’s meetings will be on the W. University Avenue side of the auditorium;
All citizens/media attending the meetings are asked to come about 30 minutes earlier in order to be screened by health officials prior to being allowed to enter the building. Anyone with a temperature higher than 100.4 degrees or showing symptoms, will not be allowed to enter the meeting room;
Please share the email CouncilComments@LafayetteLA.gov BEFORE the meetings and encourage citizens who prefer to email their comments for tonight’s meetings, to please send their emails prior to 5:00 pm. In subject line: Citizens should identify which Council meeting and the item number/subject matter in email. I will read their comments during the meeting;

In light of COVID-19, citizens are strongly encouraged to view the meeting from the comfort and safety of their homes, where they can view the meetings live via Acadiana Open Channel (AOC) and streaming live at https://www.ustream.tv/channel/lafayette-consolidated-government-council-meeting;
IS&T looked in to a call-in option for public comment. The Director advised that it was not feasible, and finally;
Auditorium seating will be limited to maintain social distancing and to comply with the Public Health emergency proclamation.
