Activities at LCG Senior Centers Temporarily Suspended

Due to the on-going spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) combined with a very active flu season here in Acadiana, Mayor-President Josh Guillory has ordered the suspension of all activities at Lafayette Consolidated Government’s three senior centers until further notice.

The centers will wrap up programming Thursday March 12, 2020 and effective Friday, March 13, 2020 the Greenhouse, the Rosehouse, and the Art Studio will not offer programming. This is to minimize the risk of exposure for the senior citizens, the most vulnerable population, during this potential health risk.

“We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of all citizens of the Parish and City of Lafayette, and we will continue to take all appropriate actions to minimize the effects of this virus on our community,” Mayor-President Josh Guillory explained. City and Parish officials will continue to remain in close contact with our public health partners at the Louisiana Department of Health, Governor’s Office of Homeland Security, and the Centers for Disease Control.

It is important to note that there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in Lafayette Parish.
