Nominations Open for Sixth Annual Project Front Yard Awards

IBERIABANK and the Lafayette Mayor-President’s Office call for nominations for the Sixth Annual Project Front Yard Awards. The awards are given annually to recognize individuals and organizations in Lafayette who are working to create a cleaner, greener and environmentally conscious community.

Nominations will be accepted in five categories; Best in Preservation, Best in Restoration, Best in Advocacy, Overall Best Project Front Yard Effort and Mayor’s Citizen Action Award.

The initial categories have changed to focus on three areas – Restore, Preserve and Advocate – PFY works to encourage individuals and groups to restore the vibrancy from streets to neighborhoods, preserve our parks, wildlife, green spaces, and waterways, and advocate the implementation of zero waste practices to improve recycling efforts. The latest addition, Mayor’s Citizen Action Award, reflects the inspiring leadership from volunteers and businesses who use the Gnome Nation application.

Mayor-President Joel Robideaux is looking forward to congratulating those who help improve Lafayette. “Project Front Yard’s efforts have inspired our citizens to get out and make positive changes in our communities. The Project Front Yard awards not only recognize the individuals and groups leading the charge in these projects, they also serve as a celebration of our city’s progress,” stated Robideaux.

Project Front Yard partner IBERIABANK will host the Awards Ceremony on October 3, 2019 to honor the recipients. IBERIABANK is excited to once again sponsor the Project Front Yard Awards,” says Jerry Vascocu, IBERIABANK Acadiana President. “We recognize the importance of the participants’ everyday efforts and commend the individuals and businesses who have been outstanding in making our community a beautiful place to enjoy.”

To be eligible, individual nominees must either live or work in Lafayette Parish and organizations for nomination must be located within Lafayette Parish. The nomination deadline is September 18, 2019.   More details including the 2019 Project Front Yard Award Descriptions and Nomination Forms can be found here.
